I think you would be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't have childhood memories of rice crispy treats. Whether it be the special treat that you found in your lunch box at school, or when you went to grandma's house. There is something about that soft, sweet, crunchy treat that just screams childhood.
As an adult, I still melt over a fresh rice crispy treat. The version I make is a little more grown-up but still takes you back to your childhood. The brown butter gives a slightly nutty and more complex flavor. I also make sure to leave some good chunks of marshmallow for that extra sticky treat within the treat. The best part is that these are not meager in size. Each treat measures 4 inches square and about 1 inch thick. I offer them plain or decorated with white or dark chocolate and sprinkles. Plus they're gluten-free.
These get eaten so quickly at my house that I have to hide some to ensure I get any.
